Japanese Rice Bowl
I’m not really sure where I first saw this recipe for this recipe really called ‘Tamago Kake Rohan’. It’s a Japanese rice and egg breakfast bowl that is even easier than the rice and fried egg bowl that I make a lot. Why is it easier? Well, the egg is place on the rice raw.
Ok – don’t start freaking out about a raw egg! What happens is that you place the egg on the very hot rice and then start to stir it in. It’s really not any different than an over easy egg. So the minute the rice is done – throw that egg on and stir! Now, if that still kinda freaks you out – throw in the microwave for 30 seconds after you stir it.
The classic Japanese breakfast bowl is rice, raw egg and maybe a dash of soy sauce. Just because I can’t help myself, I added some seaweed and green onions for a bit more flavor. It was really good!
The next time you need a fast breakfast before heading out the door or a super fast recovery meal – give this rice bowl a try, it’s surprisingly delicious!
