I’m not a fan of using processed products to replace butter, like margarine. There are so many other alternatives out there that keeps us eating real, whole foods that can be used
- It is often used to replace oil in recipes, it can also replace butter. Replace half the butter with apple sauce. If you want a denser, moister cake, replace with 100% apple sauce. Best used in cake recipes.
- Replace half the butter with mashed avocado. You get fewer calories, a softer and chewier texture. It’s great with cookies and for dairy free option.
- Start out with replacing half the butter with whole Greek yogurt. This is one that you need to play around with for your taste preference. Benefits are reduced calories and saturated fat.
- This is a great trick to use with kids. It helps keep them regular and they won’t even know the difference. Replace ALL the butter with pureed prunes – you can make it or just buy some baby food. It works great with chocolate and cinnamon flavored deserts.
