Earlier this spring we planted a vegetable garden out by the road. The road that is far away from any sort of convenient water source – like a hose. The garden was going to have to rely on rain and us (mostly Dwight) lugging water up to it from the pond. Fun right? Well, as soon as the garden was planted we went straight into a drought. So exciting. :/.
Neither one of us were very optimistic about this vegetable garden being successful. Even with lugging water up to regularly, it wasn’t really growing. Luckily though, about a month ago we started getting rain every single day and loads of rain. The garden started to grow so fast!!!
Everything is producing right now. We’ve got loads of zucchini, squash, basil and peppers. The potatoes, carrots and onions probably still have another month to go which is ok with me. I’ve got more than enough stuff to cook with at the moment.
So, brace yourself for an unusual amount of summer squash recipes in the next week or two :).
