No more triathlons! Ever! I can’t say how happy I am that the whole Ironman, triathlon thing is over and done with. It’s way to stifling and controlling of my life. For about 6 weeks after Louisville I was just kinda riding my mountain bike a bit, jogging some trails, eating like I’m still training 20 hours a week, I decided it was about time to jump into my running season. As of right now I’m planning on Frosty Foot 30k, The Black Mountain Marathon and then the Eugene Marathon.
At first I thought I was going to do the Frosty Foot 50k, the Mount Mitchell Challenge and the the Eugene Marathon, but I’ve had to rethink things on a injury, staying healthy thought process. To be ready for the 50k and Mitchell, I would have to start ramping up the miles with zero room for injury. I mean, the likelihood of that happening is pretty slim considering I’m still dealing with a bum ankle. The end game is Eugene and a BQ so I’m beginning to think that working on my speed is a bit more important than knocking out a 40 mile race in February…… Even though I really want too because doesn’t it look like so much fun?
Anyways, there is this underground competition called the Triple Crown and I really wanted to be the first female to do it which could lead me to be an idiot and ramp up my miles to fast… Basically you race Mount Mitchell Challenge, ride the Assault on Mount Mitchell and then finish off with ORAAM. The Mountain Mitchell trifecta! It’s ball busting but I really think it would be awesome!
Who knows what the rest of the running season will be for me, but for now, I”m going to try to stay injury free and get my slow pace a bit faster.
